Work Redefined

Haha inspired post from comment by Gui.

Life then and now. Its a fact that work is getting busier by the year. Many things have to be done and things are always not done. Sometimes you work till you wonder why you are working.

Was walking down the staircase one evening when the question suddenly popped up: Why are we so busy with work? Why are some people so relentless in working?

Chatted over this topic with a friend over coffee and he said it's a Singaporean culture. Read from reports and experts claimed that it was a struggle to prove indispensibility for many asians. There was even the thought that maybe it was personal self fulfillment that many people worked absurd hours.. though i am not saying i am one of them. Just happened to be less efficient than most.

Then i thought: why can't i give myself more time? Why can't we spend the afternoons and evenings on leisure? Why should teachers mark homework after a long day in school?

Yet its easy to rationalize as it is difficult to put to practice, as that very sparkle in the eye, a brilliant smile, a look of hope, a cry for help, the knock on the door... things that would put you off your guard, even if you were in the safe confines of your own fortress.

So maybe it wasn't that different from the past than to now. Or was that?

Moment of Triumph

today went to the npcc day parade!

turned out better than i thought, gosh... this is the 15th year i am attending... and i think i have not missed a single one yet... or did i?

then today i felt a strong sense of comaderie when we were up the bus today... a sense of joy and triumph.. like we are really together as a unit. . . and it is precisely this kind of feeling that makes fighting on worth the effort.

Can we upkeep? Can we push on?
