Yet Another Busy Week

And so yet another busy week even after the school term ends.

Monday to Wednesday was extra trainings and tests, getting ready for all kinds of forms, meeting up the teacher officers for promotion and badges updates, deciding for the future of the unit, everything just went past like airplanes taking off at changi airport.... busy busy busy!

And comes friday whereby we went off for the forest adventure, quite fun if not too short....

And then there were many obstacles to clear in the trail, its quite a shame that you know you have not been exercising enough after you get aches and pains all over. .. or perhaps maybe one is getting old after all. Afterall, its been quite many a year since i am in MSHSNPCC...

Just thought that maybe the instructors should have made this point clearer:"stay attached at all times!" "p

Ain't this a nice shelter! Think theres just this part in me that loves the nature. If I wasn't in teaching, I guess I'll be doing some job that will require me to be in the rainforest for months! :p

And then it was a belated bday celebration for Paul's birthday! Look at the fresh fresh lobster! (as claimed by MQ though i think maybe not so fresh :p)

And then there was Paul with his birthday "cake" and a cannot-extinguished candle! Haha as usual celebration was quite arranged last minute but there were 8 of us who turned up! Yaay~~

And then there was Air Pistol competition the next day! All of us damn on rite? haha...

Okie la update soon . . stay tuned! :p

Campcraft Training

今天的训练好多了!大家看起来都精神奕奕,首次看到曙光降临!

21 November 2007

日月如梭

As I was talking to the campcraft team the other day, It suddenly dawned that 13 years have since passed by... could still remember the very first day when my then CI Rongfa was still talking to us about the competition, the memories are clear on the final day itself, when some of us were crying and he was crying... such are perfect ones when you look back, and such are those that we don't speak about; something that is close to the heart, something that people don't usually bring up.

Time flies sometimes, doesn't it?

Duty

Is it due to lack of exercise or am I getting old? Just one day of kayaking and its aches all over...

责任感

It's really disappointing when you guys promised me something and not deliver.

It's like telling you something important and asking to do the correct thing and yet it is simply not done. What does it take for you to do the right thing? Isn't it wrong when you already choose not to turn up and worse still, not to account for it? A wrong does not take another to correct it.

Why don't you just face up to it and take responsibility?

Do I really have to do things the hard and ugly way?

Why are we doing this?

16 September 2007

Responsibility?

At the morning of your Service day, you call and said that you are at tuition and you suppose that it was the responsible thing to do?

Do you tell me that you do not know you need to inform beforehand when the instruction was repeated zillions of times?

How about the irreversible fact that you will be potentially out of the race for the SPFNPCC badge once you miss service day?

More importantly, what do you treat this CCA as? What are you treating your officers and unit as?

不公平的看法

If you want my feelings about the response on the CI course applicants, i think i must say i am disappointed.

My good friend says it does not mean no applicant or only one applicant means they are not appreciative or ungrateful. They can bring what they learnt from the unit and make merit for other people when they go to their JCs and so on.

So i was thinking, if that could be true, then what happens to their juniors who will be leaderless?

Good friend brother says the graduands could be wanting recognition.

I was thinking, you mean we still have to invite you to be coming back as a CI when it should be you who should feel grateful to have learnt many things and then wanting to come back and do your part for your juniors?

Last time i was still doing this shameless thing but now, i think i do not want to put myself so low anymore.

There are bound to be successes and failures, some years we train very grateful cadets, sometimes we don't. For the years when we are successful, we are rewarded for cadets who are selfless and sacrifice for the unit. For others, we produce people who want to move on.

Maybe it is not a bad thing. You can say these people are not ungrateful, they just feel they want to move on. It does not mean that they don't feel anything for the unit.

As for myself, i guess it does not really matter. If we have the heart, things will always work themselves out.

If it was really the case of grateful cadets who just wanted to move on, then i must say we are really effective to have produced 24 of them, with only 1 who wants to come back.

And no, i am not being negative about them or harsh on myself as a nurturing officer, but rather just being very opinionated and overly passionate on this place i call my 2nd home.

Plea or Cry

Its strange that our unit of today was not the unit of the yesteryears. Pride and Honour, strong sense of belonging from the cadets, people who still remember and make their feelings known by coming back to help, even if there was really nothing to gain back.

We reminisce about the past when people kept to their committments and were really physically around all the while, be it difficulties or arguments -- all were clear and all were willing to give and get, and things were really smooth then. There would be arguments but there were also camaraderie, and at the end of it all, there was espirit de corps.

People of today -- sometimes we wonder if direct gratification were the only thing that were on their minds. Or perhaps glory or maybe even the impression of the kind of power that they should have when they observed certain things in the past. Perhaps some of us seemed very enpowered to do things, but how many people actually see the pains and the hardwork behind it all? Who knew of the sorrows?

Ask not why things are not as before but instead look at how things are and should be. Compare not the past with the present but let it be a good source of information or perhaps experience.

And rules or the system, are they not makeups of the human mind? Rightfully though they should be adhered, have we also sometimes perhaps forgot that humans are still humans afterall?

Adapt is what we should be doing, understanding is what we must achieve. The world is changing, so we should be moving along. Look far, perceive in depth and maybe, just maybe, things will present themselves in ways we could have never imagined.

Moment of Triumph

today went to the npcc day parade!

turned out better than i thought, gosh... this is the 15th year i am attending... and i think i have not missed a single one yet... or did i?

then today i felt a strong sense of comaderie when we were up the bus today... a sense of joy and triumph.. like we are really together as a unit. . . and it is precisely this kind of feeling that makes fighting on worth the effort.

Can we upkeep? Can we push on?

Busy day

Today was yet another long long day.

4G was really not paying much attention in class; it might be due to the weather, or perhaps they find no more joy in lessons, or perhaps i have lost much of my energy.

Admin follows one after another.

You just have to do them!

Then it was air pistol practice for another straight 3 hrs... i could be getting senile.. one person carried 3 rifles from the armoury all the way to the air rifle range... only to find that i want to train pple for 3rd class drill.

Then these pple were in selection for shooting competition! So in the end only half an hr's worth of training.

Then went to went fren for dinner, returned the kino card and had a bit of catching up.

What a day!
